From Darkness to Light: Your Journey with the Quran

From Shaytan's Deception to Allah's Truth.

The story between Shaytan and humanity began with Adam—specifically, with Adam and Hawaa in Jannah.

When Iblis defied Allah and refused to bow, his plan to destroy humanity was established.

Jealousy consumed him. How could a being, made from clay, be superior to him?
A creation so honored by Allah that even the angels were commanded to prostrate before it.

But Iblis rejected this divine order. And so, our story began—a story filled with tests and challenges, ups and downs.

This is the story of your life and mine.

Atheism, Liberalism, Feminism, Misogyny, Women’s Rights—What Do They Have in Common?

They are tools. Tools Shaytan uses to mislead you. Not just Shaytan from the Jinn, but from among humans too.

As a woman, Shaytan may exploit feminism or misogyny, depending on what works best to derail you. I’ve seen this firsthand in my own circle—and even during my jahiliyya. May Allah forgive me.

Some of these topics, like atheism, have been addressed by our scholars for centuries. Others, like modern liberalism or feminism, require newer discussions.

In shaa Allah, we’ll dive deeper into these topics in future letters. For now, let’s focus on something more immediate: getting you out of the darkness you’re in.

Trapped in Darkness

You feel trapped. Mostly by your thoughts, but also by your lifestyle.

The truth is, the only way out of this state is action.

Not wishful thinking.
Not daydreaming.
Not hopelessly waiting for a “moment,” a “solution,” or a “person” to save you.

Allah is your Savior.

But even then, you must put in the effort. You can’t sit in misery, drowning in tears, and expect to be pulled out of the water without at least trying to swim.

You Are Honored

I want you to understand something fundamental: you are an honored human being.
Not because of your looks, status, wealth, clothes, or family.

You are honored because you are Allah’s creation.
You are honored because you are a descendant of Adam.
You are honored because Allah says so.

"And We have certainly honored the children of Adam..."

Surah Al Israa, 70

So, why do you dishonor yourself?

  • By doom-scrolling endlessly.

  • By wasting hours on movies and series.

  • By comparing yourself and your life to others.

  • By eating unhealthy foods.

  • By neglecting your body’s rights, like exercising.

Why do you do this? Two main reasons:

  1. You don’t control your nafs.

  2. Shaytan has taken over your heart.

Let’s fix this.

How to Remove Shaytan’s Lock on Your Heart

It’s not complicated. The key is simple:

Soften your heart with the antidote that has been known to mankind for centuries—the Quran.

  • Can’t read? Listen to it.

  • Don’t understand it? Read about it.

  • “Don’t have time”? Set your priorities.

  • Don’t know where to start? I’m here to help.

Beginning your journey with the Quran doesn’t demand much from you. All you need are the right resources—and, ideally, a notebook to jot down reflections and lessons.

From there, you start building your way up the ladder, step by step. But remember: the journey itself is the goal, not just the destination.

There’s a special barakah (blessing) Allah places in the lives of people connected to the Quran—a tranquility and peace that you’ll never find anywhere else.

I swear by Allah, you won’t regret it.

On instaram, sister Mariam El-Kiki makes amazing reels for Quran, she has already started her course to help you start learning reading the Quran from scratch.

She also has a newsletter. You dont want to miss out on her content, check hert out here.

YouTube is one of the best platforms for learning. Alongside my books, I use it extensively because it’s free, engaging, and accessible.

However, you need to be cautious about whom you listen to. Not everyone provides authentic guidance, and I strongly warn you to steer clear of liberal imams or individuals whose teachings stray from the Quran and Sunnah.

Here are some resources:

Time, Knowledge, and Your Choices

It’s not that you don’t have the time, resources, or possibilities to access knowledge.

In today’s world, this excuse is completely false. Knowledge is everywhere—free, accessible, and of good quality. People used to travel for miles, listening to cassettes, just to gain knowledge. Now, it’s at our fingertips, but ironically, it feels further away than ever.

"I don't have time."

This is a myth. We all have time. If you can:

  • Scroll on social media for even 10 minutes,

  • Watch movies or series,

  • Do mindless tasks,

Then you have time—you’re just choosing to spend it on unnecessary things.

Making Time for the Quran

Take just 10 minutes—whether in the morning, evening, during a break, or before sleep—whenever fits your schedule.

Turn off the distractions. It's just you and Allah now.

Make a note of where you are right now and how you want to improve. Remember, it’s about taking things step by step.

If you’re not reading the Quran regularly, don’t say, “I want to read 20 pages starting today.” You’ll likely fail.

Instead, start with 1-5 ayahs a day. Keep it small but consistent. After a week, increase it to one more ayah. Then, instead of listening to music, try listening to the Quran while walking.

You get the idea. The goal is to keep the Quran present in your daily life and not neglect it.

Deepening Your Connection

As you progress, you’ll naturally want to learn more: the language, grammar, tajweed, and so on.

Personally, I always emphasize tadabbur—deep reflection on the Quranic verses. This is what changed me inside out.

That’s why I created my free Tadabbur Guide as a lead magnet. It’s designed to help you reflect deeply on the Quran. Soon, I’ll be releasing an upgraded version with many extras to guide you, in shaa Allah. There will be different versions for different needs.

If you’re subscribed, you should’ve received the free guide in the welcoming email. Take a look and start using it when you feel ready. In shaa Allah, even when you read just one ayah, reflect on it.

You can also go to quran.com to read the tafsir when you click on any ayah to deepen your understanding. Everything else is explained in the free guide I sent you.

Are You Ready for Change?

Because the Quran will change you. It is THE source of knowledge. Through it, you learn the most basic and most important truths about Islam.

This is how you move from darkness into light, as Allah, the Truth, the All-Wise, says:

"Allah is the Protector of those who have faith. He brings them out of darkness into light. But as for those who reject faith, their allies are Taghut [false gods], who bring them out of light into darkness. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally."

Surah Al Baqarah, 257

Don’t limit yourself, like Shaytan has limited himself. He is already doomed to the Hellfire. Why would we choose to listen to him?

Allah has given you the chance to transform—to become the best version of yourself and enter His Gardens. Shaytan has already sealed his fate. He’s been confined to Hellfire.

You are more than your darkness. You are honored by Allah. And that’s enough.

Closing Thoughts

That’s all for today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic, in shaa Allah.
Feel free to share with me anytime!

For now, I will leave you
